粉丝给我提供了近十几年的专八汉译英，为啥唯独没有2020年的？我一直纳闷。
后来有粉丝提醒说2020没考，取消了。因为众所周知的原因。
这篇专八原文大体不难，但是用词也并非很具体，比如“井然有序的繁华”、“我行我素的自然风光”、“与其相亲相守的最佳间隙”。考场上，偏直译一点也无妨。就拿“井然有序的繁华”来说，也可以翻译为ordered prosperity of cities。
参考译文有一些加词，翻译更像是一个写作过程，好似代替作者用英文重新写一遍。
【原文】
城市驱散了旷野原有的驻民，破坏了旷野古老的风景，越来越多地方以井然有序的繁华，取代我行我素的自然风光。
今天，旷野日益退缩着。但人们不应忽略旷野，漠视旷野，而要寻觅出与其相亲相守的最佳间隙。善待旷野就是善待人类自身。要知道，人类永远不可能以城市战胜旷野。（126字）
【参考译文】
The expansion of town drives away the original dwellers in what used to be open country. In this process the wild landscape gets destroyed and in more and more areas the abandon of natural landscape is giving place to the order and methodology of urban prosperity.
Today open country is shrinking. We should not ignore or even disregard open country. Instead, the right thing to do is to seek out a niche in which we may best protect and stay close to it. To take good care of it is to take good care of ourselves. And one more thing to note: mankind can never vanquish open country with town. (110 words)
【解析】
1、旷野：旷野一词，通常可以翻译为wilderness。
牛津词典对wilderness的解释是：a large area of land that has never been developed or used for growing crops because it is difficult to live there。
Webster的解释是：a wild and uncultivated region, as of forest or desert, uninhabited or inhabited only by wild animals; a tract of wasteland。
文中旷野一词，放入语境中，实则指非城镇用地，即乡村，所以翻译为open country。
考场上翻译为wilderness也没关系（也许西北等地的城市是这种情况），你不会因为个别用词而考不及格。但是我一下笔，就感到这里应该斟酌一下，于是选了参考译文中的措辞。

黑体部分expansion是根据常识添加的。
Used to be可以表示“以前”、“曾经”，例如：
In just the same way, a couple of hundred years ago, poor old women used to be burned for witchcraft when they could not even work enough magic to get themselves a square meal.
We were anchored in what used to be the most productive fishing site in all of central Asia, but as I looked out over the bow, the prospects of a good catch looked bleak.
2、我行我素的自然风光：我行我素，也可以用unchecked、free。
不少中文文章，措辞未必经得起推敲。比如旷野的自然风光不一定是我行我素的，城市周边区域，更是如此。不过我们不必过多纠结于原文。
译文中的abandon，并不是你们按字母顺序背单词背到这里就abandon的那个意思。
Abandon名词，牛津词典的解释是：an uncontrolled way of behaving that shows that sb does not care what other people think。
Webster的解释是：freedom from inhibition or conventionality：to dance with reckless abandon。
3、忽略旷野，漠视旷野： 忽略、漠视，含义相近。英文的ignore和disregard也是如此，但disregard可以表示更主观的“不重视”、“不尊重”（regard有“尊重”的含义）。
牛津词典对ignore的解释是：to pay no attention to sth；对disregard的解释是：to not consider sth; to treat sth as unimportant。可以看出细微区别之处。
4、间隙： “间隙”按字面不好理解，但是我们大概知道是“那么回事”。这种情况类似于开篇的“旷野”。考试interval、interstice等词也无妨。译文选用了niche，引申义。
5、要知道，人类永远不可能以城市战胜旷野。
And one more thing to note: mankind can never vanquish open country with town.
With sth表示方式、工具。
这句是省略句，也可以翻为完整句子：We should know this fact: …(…bear in mind that…)。
